Q1 - Improved profitability
- Data Respons started the year with improved profitability and a healthy development in the group's main markets. The group's strong market position within the Oil Services sector provides a good outlook for the future, says Kenneth Ragnvaldsen, CEO of Data Respons ASA.
The group's operational revenue for the 1st quarter was NOK 225.8 million, a growth of 3 %. EBITDA was NOK 9.3 million and the operating result (EBIT) ended at NOK 8.2 million. The order intake for the period was NOK 218 million and the group's order reserve was NOK 632 million at the end of the quarter.
Increased profitability within the solutions segment
The Products and Solutions segment started the year with increased profitability compared to last year. Closer coordination of the Nordic operations, transferring tasks to our Asian organisation and general cost reductions explain the quarter's improved profitability.
- Our organisation in Asia (Taiwan & Shanghai) plays a key part in many of our large-scale solutions deliveries. Our local presence to major customers, combined with a strong focus in Asia gives us a competitive advantage and will play an important role in the years ahead, says Ragnvaldsen.
Strong market position in Oil Services
- We experienced a solid general market development at the start of 2012, particularly within important industries such as Medical, Defence, Transportation, Telecom and Oil Services/Maritime.
The strongest growing segment in Data Respons is the Oil Services/Maritime industry which accounts for almost 30 % of the company's revenue. The group has built up a strong market position in this industry sector. We have the relevant vertical competence and more than 25 years' experience which makes us an attractive partner for Oil Services companies with growth plans ahead, says Ragnvaldsen.
- The start of 2012 has given us an optimistic outlook moving forward. Data Respons is more focused, we have a solid order reserve and a positive market climate. Nonetheless, our most important undertaking is to continue to increase the efficiency of our organisation on all levels in order to remain profitable throughout the year, Ragnvaldsen concludes.
