Q2 - Improved profitability
- Focused efforts within the company's key markets and a more effective organisation improved the profitability in the second quarter and indicate that we are on the right track and in line with the company's priorities going forward, says Kenneth Ragnvaldsen, CEO of Data Respons ASA.
Group revenue for the second quarter was NOK 223.2 million, an increase of 3 %. EBITDA was NOK 10.3 million and EBIT amounted to NOK 9.2 million. Order intake for the period was NOK 195 million.
Group revenue for the first half year was NOK 448.9 million, an increase of 3 %. EBITDA was NOK 19.6 million and EBIT amounted to NOK 17.4 million. Order intake for the period was NOK 413 million. The group's order backlog at the end of the first half of 2012 was NOK 604 million.
New solutions introduced to the market
Within the Product and Solutions segment, new solutions were launched in the market and contributed to growth in the quarter. Closer coordination of operations in the Nordic countries, the transfer of tasks to Asia and overall cost reductions contributed to the improved profitability.
- We have been involved in an exciting case with a major customer within the medical equipment industry, where we have moved from the development stage to volume delivery during the quarter. This has been a collaborative project where not only production, but also large parts of the development have taken place in Asia. This model provides a rapid development cycle for custom solutions with good quality and low costs, says Ragnvaldsen.
Robust and safety-critical technology
- Data Respons' main customers are divided among various segments such as industrial, medical equipment, defence, transportation, telecom and oil services/maritime. A common aspect is the need for robust and safety-critical computing solutions that meet tough environmental standards and are based on the latest technological innovations.
- Our solutions often provide the platform for our client's application. This places great demands on what we deliver because it's so vital to our customer's end product. We are focusing and investing more on this to be the best at handling these types of critical deliveries. The many contracts we have won within oil services are proof that our efforts have paid off and has put us in a good position moving forward, says Ragnvaldsen.
Positive development in profitability- The first half of the year shows that we are on the right track. Data Respons is more focused, we have a solid order backlog and a lot of good market opportunities. Nevertheless, it is important for us to improve our organisation on all levels so that the positive trend in profitability continues, concludes Ragnvaldsen.
